Ideas and values:

During the 1930s, the world was becoming more modern. There
was a drastic change in the culture. Many people did not believe
the El Paso Symphony Orchestra was very important. Men were
the leaders of the house, they worked outside while the women
worked inside the house cooking, cleaning, taking care of the
children, etc.
Geographic influences:
There was influence from other places in the world mainly
because of the Great Depression. Economics were getting worse
and worse. Jobs and money were lost all over the United States as
well as the El Paso Symphony.
Social issues:
At that time, people were losing many jobs and money. The
current president was Herbert Hoover, who people thought did
not do much about it and was therefore not a very good leader. A
few years later, Americans elected a new president, Franklin
Roosevelt. He made civilians happy by giving job opportunities
and making economics get better again.
Cultural issues:
Discrimination was an issue during the 1930s, there was a
problem with racism and there were many problems in all of the
different cultural groups. African Americans, Mexicans and any
other cultures that did not consist of white people were
discriminated and therefore treated unfairly and incorrectly.
