Lesson Plan: Developing Morals and Values

Objective: Students will understand the basic differences and definition of both morals and
values.
Materials Projector and PowerPoint
Present lesson using PowerPoint and the projector.
Presentation (From Child, Family, School, Community: Socialization and Support):

Duration: 10-12 minutes


1. Title Slide: 10 seconds
2. Slide 2: 30 seconds

Explain where observations took place, who was observed and size of
class.
3. Slide 3: 2-4 minutes
i.
Ask class definition (off the tops of their heads) of morals and values
ii.
Explain difference between morals and values, and when children develop
social understanding.
4. Slide 4: 1-2 minutes
i.
Break down how morals are defined/what characterizes morals.
5. Slide 5: 2-3 minutes
i.
Explain the different types of morality and how they relate to real life.
6. Slide 6: 1-2 minutes
i.
Explain how values develop and how they affect society and are affected
by social development.
7. Slide 7: 1-2 minutes
i.
Explain how peer groups and parents affect the development and intensity
of both morals and values in children.

Activity:

Duration: 5-6 minutes


Materials: PowerPoint with question, pieces of paper
Have class partner up and draw a t-diagram on their papers. Have class label the left side
Morals, right side Values. Put up the slide with a list of morals and values mixed up and
have students separate them into their appropriate categories.
Discuss answers and how morals and values can sometimes overlap
