Conference Advance Specials Resolution

2008-2009
Whereas, an annual conference, under recommendation from the Conference Committee on
Global Ministries, is authorized by the 2004 Book of Discipline ¶654, to designate certain
ministry projects within the boundaries of the annual conference as Conference Advance
Specials, and

Whereas, such designated ministry projects provide an opportunity for individuals and local
churches to be partners in ministry, and

Whereas, gifts to Conference Advance Specials are opportunities for “second-mile giving”
where 100% of gifts go directly to the designated ministry project, and

Whereas, the Tennessee Annual Conference Committee on Global Ministries recommends the
following ministry projects should be designated as Conference Advance Specials:

Bethlehem Centers of Nashville

Community Care Fellowship
East End Children’s Program (Lawrenceburg)
Edgehill Brighter Days After School Program
Grace Assistance Program (Clarksville Urban Ministries)
Gallatin Shalom Zone
Miriam’s Promise
Mountain T.O.P.
Salvus Center (Clinic in Cumberland District, Dr. Ted Hill)
TN Conference Corrections Ministry
TN Conference Disaster Response
TN Conference--Friends of Beersheba Springs Assembly
TN Conference Friends of Cedar Crest Camp
TN Conference Hunger Ministries
TN Conference Strength for the Journey (HIV/AIDS camp)
TN Conference Volunteers in Mission

Be it therefore resolved that the Tennessee Annual Conference formally recognize these
ministry projects as Conference Advance Specials for the 2008-2009 conference year.

And be it further resolved that opportunities to support these Conference Advance Specials be
promoted through local churches, districts, and conference ministries.
