Question 4.
(4) Who would be the audience for your media product?

Importance of a Target
Audience.
Having a target audience in mind, is important when creating a
product intended to go out to the public. It determines wether
or not the product will succeed or fail. It involves doing the
research so it is able to target the perfect audience in order for
it to do well. For example a production company creating an
action film would have a target audience of primarily men aged
between 18 to 25. This is due to the stereotype linking men to
explosions and violence.

How I came to my
desired Target Audience.
When deciding my target audience, I
started off by doing some research
into the genre. From there I could
then plan on what age and gender
the people who might watch my film
would be, and also what interests
they would have.
I chose two short films to look at. I
noticed that they both follow the
same target audience. Which would
be young men and women aged
between 18 and 25. I also gathered
that they would have a creative
background, wether thats art, music
and/or film.

Target Audience
Overview .
I have decided that my target audience
would follow that of the other Indie Genre
films I researched. I found out that the
audience were both male and female
aged in between 18 and 26. I also found
out that they were well educated,
potentially people who had gone to
university, and also fall under the
demographic A, B, C1. I thought this
due to the fact that I feel Indie genre
films are thought provoking and
promote discussion on the narrative. I
also found out that my potential target
audience might be the type of people
who pay for cinema memberships and
primarily visit Picturehouse cinemas,
due to it being a cinema specialising in
the arthouse division.
