Motivation: A Story
People sometimes ask me whether I got a "last wish" while I was in the hospital. Maybe
seeing a favorite show in person, or meeting a famous person. For a long time, 2 years, I never
understood why they were asking, but now I think I do. Giving up. I think when a person gets a
last wish, they are understanding that its is their time to go, possibly to soon, but their time. And
I think some people try to glorify their last days. However, to me this is the end; them saying this
is the last thing I am going to do. So now, without air I can say, "no", I never got that last wish
because I always had the motivation to survive, and I knew that it was not the time to go.
Motivation comes in many forms and aspects of life; sometimes it is in a dream, other
times in the moment. We all have our own motivation. And we all have our ways of harnessing
motivation. Whether it is a teammate on the field lines yelling for us to finish the games, strong,
or ourselves aiming for a goal. Every person, every where, holds their own motivation. To live,
to care, and to survive.
