Laura Ingalls Wilder

The Life of Laura


Laura was born on February 7, 1867 in Wisconsin.
Her family moved several times when she was just a child.
They eventually settled down for good in DeSmet, SD, on the East side of our
state!
Laura taught herself much of the time
Aside from being an author, Laura taught at a country school for 3 years later
on in her life.
She endured many hardships throughout her life including her husband
becoming half-paralyzed.
Laura died February 10th, 1957.

Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that is how I will
remember you all. If you can only remember me with tears, then
dont remember me at all.
Home is the nicest word there is.
If enough people think of a thing and work hard enough at it, I guess
its pretty nearly bound to happen, wind and weather permitting.
I wanted children now to understand more about the beginnings of
things, to know what is behind the things they see what is that
made America as they know it.

Little House on the Prairie was made into a TV show about Laura
and her family.
The show is still on air today on certain channels.
The Little House Series covers five different generations! (1788
through the 1920s).
