Teaching Evaluation

Sherre Barnes
University Connections
August 2015
29 Students present
I am writing in behalf of Sherre Barnes whom was assigned to me as a peer
mentor for the Connections Curriculum taught the week prior to classes beginning at
Utah State University. This is a three credit hour course taught over four days with thirty
to fourty contact hours. Sherre was assigned to maintain the mechanics of the class room,
taking role dispensing information, and grading the discussion parts of the course.
Sherre began class promptly on time and to my surprise there were no late comers even
on an early summer morning. Sherre is a very hands on teacher she began by welcoming
the students taking role then warming the up for the days activities before turning over
the time to me. She built a nice rapport with the students over the four day period and
continued through out the semester.
Her greatest strengths include that she was always punctual, prepared with the
tasked assigned and greeting the students with a smile and respect. She was not afraid to
participate with the students in their cardboard boat-building project moving from group
to group providing encouragement and creative ideas. When it came to organizing the
boat races at first dam her organization skills were very helpful in controlling and safely
working relay races between two classes of thirty students.
We work well together I know the students had a great time while learning some
of the important life lessons needed for a successful career in college. Overall I feel
Sherre has control over her class, rapport with the students and creates a successful
learning environment.
