Professional Growth Plan

Goals for the First Year Teaching
A big goal of mine is to build relationships with colleagues. I also believe in
building relationships with my students. I want to create a safe haven in my classroom
to ensure that my students feel safe to share their ideas and concerns. Another goal of
mine is to be aware of the resources that the schools has not only for teachers, but also
students. Create a well thought out rules and procedures that allow my class to run with
great classroom management. Another goal of mine is to translate my passion for
literature and critical analysis of literature in a way that encourages my students to read
and develop their own opinions and ideas. I want my students to know that it is okay to
dislike a certain text, as long as they back up their claims.
Long Term Goals (Five Year Plan)
My long terms goals is to go back to school for a Masters Degree in Special
Education. This goal will allow to me to also teach Special Education, but will also help
me better understand my students and accommodate my students. Whether I am
teaching regular education classes or special education classes, I want to gain the
knowledge to pair with my passion for teaching so that the students can use me as a
stepping stone to get another step closer to succeeding in their education. I also plan to
succeed, fail, reflect, and change my teaching strategies in order to grow as a learning
teacher. My success will come from my students success.
