I am writing to express interest in the K-8 elementary teaching positions in the Billings Public Schools
District. I believe that my experiences managing classrooms and working with elementary-aged
children make me a great fit for this position. My passions for teaching and learning are evidenced
through the trusting relationships I build with my students to better understand their personalities and
learning needs. These relationships allow me to modify my instruction to reach each student based on
their unique abilities and interests. As an educator who strives to meet the needs of each individual
student through differentiated instruction, curriculum, and assessment, I believe I am an excellent fit
for this position.
I am currently substitute teaching in the Belgrade School District in grades K-8. Teachers often request
me to substitute for their classes, and I work an average of three to four days per week. My substitute
teaching experience has given me the ability to walk into any classroom and adapt my management
and instructional techniques to fit the needs of those students while maintaining the expectations of the
regular classroom teacher. I completed my student teaching in a fourth grade classroom , and the
experience taught me how to create engaging lessons, remain flexible, and teach with confidence and
clarity. I consider myself to be an educator who strives to teach her students not only the curriculum
but also life skills and critical thinking that will serve them well into their adult years. I also previously
worked in an after school program where I learned how to manage large groups of students while still
giving individuals the attention they need.
I currently hold a degree in elementary education with a mathematics option from Montana State
University and have received my educators license. Even while working part-time in the after school
program, I maintained a 3.95 GPA as a full-time student. Based on my qualifications, skills, and
passion for teaching, I believe I would be an excellent fit for the K-8 elementary teaching position in
