Procedures
1. Students and Instructor will discuss different personalities of people
QUESTION: What kind of personalities can a person have? Can a person have multiple
personalities? How do you approach someone who has a doom and gloom
attitude?
PROMPT:
I am going to sing a song about an old woman that I saw and I want you to lightly
tap the beats and when Im done modeling the song tell me what kind of
personality you think this woman has based on what I have sung.
2. Students will keep a steady beat and listen as the instructor sings/models Housewifes Lament.
QUESTION: How might you describe this old woman? What are some of the reason why this
woman feels this way?
PROMPT:
Lets learn this song!
3. Students will echo Housewifes Lament in small phrases. After finishing the song the instructor will
increase the length of the phrase and continue doing this until students are comfortable with pitch,
words, and rhythms.
PROMPT:

Now lets sing the whole song as a class.

4. The students and instructor will keep a steady beat and sing Housewifes Lament. Instructor will
audiate pitch for the class and begin the class.
PROMPT:

I bet you can sing Housewifes Lament without me this time.

5. The students will keep a steady beat and sing Housewifes Lament. The instructor will be sure to

intone the starting pitch and to bring in the class correctly. The instructor will CAREFULLY listen to
the class. Give some feedback at the end of the song and write the note D and a G
QUESTION: Does anyone know what solfedge this might be if Im in G Major?
PROMPT:
I will point to a note and you will sing its solfedge
7. Instructor will point at notes and focus mainly on the sol-do relationship.
PROMT:

Now lets try a different keys and sing sol-do.

8. Students successfully sing sol-do in different keys. Instructor will have the class think about how
many sol-do or sol-la-ti-dos are in the song. After students answered, keeping that number in mind,
have them all sing the song once more to end the lesson
QUESTION: do you think that you are comfortable singing sol-do?
PROMPT:
I will play a note on the piano and that note will be your do, and individually you
have to sing sol-do.

Assessment of Goals and Objectives


Assessment will be achieved by having each individual student sing sol to do when the instructor plays
do on the piano. The assessment will be on a 3 number system. 1- Being really good 2- being o.k. and 3not yet mastered sol-do.

Follow up Lessons
Future lessons will focus on other relationships like major or minor triads and being familiar with the
intervals.
