The Hays Code

What Was The Hays Code?

The hays code was an informal name for the motion picture
production. It was originally established in 1930 but not publically
recognised until 1934.
The hays code was a set of rules governed American filmmaking for
over three decades. There job included approving pictures and
censoring image for American filming. Furthermore the hays code
laid down basic guidelines for film producers.

Examples Of How The Hays Code Was

Enforced
From 1934 to 1954, the code was closely speculated by Joseph Breen, the
administrator of Hays was appointed to enforce the code in Hollywood. The film
industry followed the guidelines set by the code well into the late 1950s, but
during this time the code began to weaken due to the combined impact of
popularity of television and influence from foreign films.
Crime and immortality would not be consented to be portrayed as positive.
This resulted in a change to the storyline or ending of many films or tv
programs such as the bad seed

IMPACT I THINK THE HAYS CODE HAD ON THE

AUDIENCE.
I think that the impact created by the hays code on the audience was not as
positive as planned. I think that many audience members felt disappointed
and disheartened due to the fact that scheduled programs were made to be
changed and story lines where also changed meaning what was expected was
no longer going to happen. On the contrary some members of the audience
may have been pleased with the impact the hays code had on them because
they felt safe and like they needn't be concerned about any offending images
and language during a show or film that they are watching.
