Brookhaven, GA, 30319 T (678) 592-6947 aek17@uga.edu April 27, 2016 Dr. Peter Bowman Assistant Professor and Director of Admissions OT Division Division of Occupational Therapy Department of Health Professions Medical University of South Carolina 151-B Rutledge Avenue, MSC 962 Charleston, SC 29425 Dear Dr. Bowman: The College of Health Professions within the Medical University of South Carolina seems like the perfect graduate school for me. After searching for graduate schools on the American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc.s website, I was excited to learn about Medical University of South Carolina and explore the occupational therapy Masters program. My knowledge of human development, volunteer experience in the healthcare setting, and dedication to advancing my education makes me a highly qualified applicant. As I am currently in the process of obtaining a Bachelors degree in human development and family science, I feel that I am gaining valuable knowledge that will help me in the field of occupational therapy. For a final project in one of my classes, I composed a literature review, studying how organic changes in a childs brain with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome correlate to cognitive impairments. Through this literature review, I gained insight into a population of children who benefit from occupational therapy. I am eager to foster my knowledge in the field of occupational therapy, and Medical University of South Carolina seems like the perfect institution to continue my educational pursuit. While touring this institution in the summer of 2015, I learned about the mission of the occupational therapy program and feel confident that I would add to this program in great ways. Hearing that students work first hand with people in a clinic on campus really captivated my attention and fueled my desire to be a part of this program. I would welcome the opportunity to further discuss my qualifications, and my possible fit as a student at this institution. I can be reached at 678.592.6947 or aek17@uga.edu. Thank you for your consideration. Best,
