Carolinas Aviation Museums Semester Long Multimodal Proposal
The Carolinas Aviation Museum originally started as a small airport
due to the Works Progress Administration in the Great Depression. Over
time, the airport deteriorated and it was going to be demolished.
However, Floyd and Lois Wilson intended to save the original hangar and
it soon became the Carolinas Aviation Museum. The Carolinas Aviation
Museum is a museum that displays various aircrafts that existed
throughout history. The museum exists to educate generations on the
history of aircrafts and hopefully inspire youth to take an interest in
aircrafts. We intend to dig deeper into the impact that Carolinas Aviation
Museum has on North Carolina, cover the history of the museum and
how the museum contributes to Charlotte financially and educationally.
We were assigned to research a Charlotte Metropolitan area with
history and we agreed on studying the Carolinas Aviation Museum.
Afterwards, we outlined who would research each part and which parts

of the proposal each member should write on February 2nd. Then we
agreed to have the proposal finished a week before it was due to have
enough time to edit and finalize it. By February 16th, we intend to come
up with interview questions and contact the person we would like to
interview. On April 19th, we hope to finish the presentation and check
whether everything is working properly. Finally, we will present the
project on finals week.
The platform we will use to present our project is called, Emaze.
It is somewhat similar to Prezi as it is a platform to create a presentation
with a wide range of templates and designs. It is also easily accessible to
our members as long as they have internet access. Our members can
also access it at the same time, making it convenient to work together.
We intend to compile the information we have separately gathered along
with several pictures of the Carolinas Aviation Museum to properly give
the audience a visual of what the museum has to offer. In order to get a
large variety of pictures, some of our members intend to visit the
museum itself. We will incorporate linguistic, visual, aural, spatial, and
gestural modes in our presentation. To do so, we will add videos and
pictures to the Emaze presentation, then speak about it with the use of
gestures.

Our proposed plan is very effective for our topic, because there will
be a multitude of information on our topic such as the history,
employment, or evolution of the museum. Therefore, we will need an
organized plan to make certain that everyone in our group knows their
research boundaries. This will keep everyone in our group on track with
one another. Our audience should care about this topic, because it
pertains to the history of Charlotte and how Charlotte has changed
throughout the years. There are plenty of interesting facts about the
Carolinas Aviation Museum. Even if you dislike planes or flying on them,
you will find interest in it and you will get an urge to learn more about it.
You might wonder how exactly the museum runs its facility, even
though it is a non-profit organization. The answer is tourism. We will look
into a number of tourists per year and how they affect not only the
museum, but the city of Charlotte as well. We will also explore how much
revenue the museum brings into the city of Charlotte and how that
money is spent. A good portion of our time will be spent in
understanding the history and importance the museum has on Charlotte.
In addition to that, we are researching the reason as to why the name
has been changed multiple times and how the museum as changed
along with it. Also, the museum is a fairly large facility, so we will look
into the employees salary, how many employees work there, and how

many are needed to manage the facility. These are some of the
questions we will focus our time on during our research. We anticipate
that the research will only deepen our interest in the topic. In conclusion,
we will sum up our research and put together a well-developed
presentation that will show our knowledge regarding the Carolinas
Aviation Museum.
