Tree Communication Studies Students Receive Service Award April 7, 2016- Greensboro, N.C. UNCG and the Office of Service Learning will award three graduating Communication studies seniors the 2015-2016 Gold Service Award at graduation on May 5th. The award is in recognition of their four years of service in the greater Greensboro community. The graduating seniors all worked at different shelters within the community. They volunteered from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for nine weeks during the Fall 2015 semester. While volunteering at these shelters, they continued to carry their course load from their classes while maintaining grade point averages above at 3.75. Dr. Smith (dr.smith@uncg.edu) of the Office of Service Learning stated, These students went above and beyond what is expected of a student and they deserve the award. Dr. Poulos (dr.poulos@uncg.edu) , the dean of the Communication Studies Department said These students were carrying 18 semester hours, they are truly a model for all students at UNCG. UNCG has approximately 19,000 undergraduate students and approximately 75 graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies. UNCG students are committed to doing something bigger all together.
