the perspective by increasing the awareness and control of
the media literacy, and he talks about the effect of helping
people on their media literacy. The author lists twelve
guidelines as a personal strategy for increasing media
literacy. The 12 guidelines are: strength your personal locus,
focus on usefulness as a goal, develop an accurate
awareness of your exposure, acquire a board base of useful
knowledge, think about the reality- fantasy continuum,
examine your mental codes, examine your opinions, change
behaviors, make cross-channel comparisons, become more
skilled at designing messages, do not take privacy for
granted and finally take personal responsibility. Then he
mentions the learning ladders that are: cognitive ladder,
emotional, moral and aesthetic appreciation ladder.
Also, he provides the three keys that help other increase
media literacy. These keys are: show them that you have
their best interest in mind, and you are not try to help for
some ulterior motive. The Second key is to be a balance.
Finally, involve your children cognitive process and help
them get better thinking for themselves. In a societal
techniques, you first need a strategy supporting by a great
deal of commitment also requires money and link with other
powerful people and groups. It is important to consider long
timeframe.
Actually, I like the exercises in this chapter and how it
helps people to improve their knowledge by arranging the
effect process from the most important to less important.
After reading this great book, I become more aware of media

that saturated us, and more conscious of mass media

message.
Finally, the last chapter is a message to carry this
knowledge and help other to have deep understanding to
