Executive Summary

TEAM 3

From March 13- April 6, 2016, Team 3 repurposed the research project originally created by
Benjamin R. Migliuri. This project looked into the Masters of Business Administration programs
that are offered in the state of Washington. To repurpose the original project we created a
brochure and website titled Which MBA Program is Right For You? We also expanded the
research to look into the MBA program offered at Seattle University as well as to look into the
accessibility of Arizona State Universitys online MBA program. Therefore the universities
researched were Arizona State University (ASU-Online), Eastern Washington University (EWU),
Seattle University (SU) and Washington State University (WSU-Online). Seattle University
offers different types of MBA degrees but is also the most expensive with a total cost average of
roughly $45,000 for their best Professional program. Eastern Washington University offers the
fastest program at 12 months but is on the quarter system unlike the other schools. Arizona State
University- Online offers the most structure as the program it offers is a lockstep program lasting
23 months. Washington State University-Online is the best renowned worldwide as well as have
the program include the option to travel abroad as a student of the MBA program.

Introduction

TEAM 3

Our product is a brochure as well as a website titled, Which MBA Program is Right For
You?. Both products will give information about Masters of Business Administration (MBA)
programs in Washington State and help people make an informative decision on which school to
attend. There would be no need to search program by program to get this information as it is
going to be on our brochure that we will pass out to students on the Terrell Mall of Washington
State University- Pullman campus. The link to our website is also on the brochure in case they
want more information.
The current problem is that when people go to look for an MBA program, there is a lot of
research that is to be done on many different schools. It is very time consuming and people
would benefit from having most of that same information in one place. This would save people
some time on research and it would also be a quick list to reference to help narrow down which
school the person would like to attend.

Research Methods
The targeted audience for this repurposed product is focused on any student looking to
earn their MBA. This could be 21 years old to 90 years old. This audience would include
students about to graduate from college or other individuals thinking about continuing their
education in Washington State.
We chose this audience because the purpose of this project is to educate and make other
students aware that no matter what a person may study, anyone can be part of the Masters of
Business Administration program.
The MBA programs of the universities that were researched were Washington State
University, Arizona State University (Online), Seattle University and Eastern Washington

TEAM 3

University. These are all highly reputable, and are fully accessible online. Both WSU and ASU
programs are accessible by our audience as they are able to be accessed through the internet no
matter where you live. As for EWU this is located in downtown Spokane, WA and a new location
in Longview, WA.
There were a total of four programs that were researched for our project. Each school
was researched by cost, time frame to complete the program, number of credits, admissions
requirements, and days/times they are offered.

Results
Our team produced a brochure and website that would be considered a cheat sheet.
They include some of the important factors of picking an MBA program. This includes the cost,
time frame to complete the program, number of credits, admissions requirements, and days/times
they are offered. The purpose of the brochure and website is to provide a place where people
who are looking to earn their MBA can view benefits of four schools that are accessible in
Washington State.
Conclusions
WSU-Online
The Washington State University online MBA program is a highly reputable, top-ranked
program that offers flexibility in terms of scheduling and start dates. The program is tailored for
both business and non-business undergraduate majors and provides the opportunity to engage
with peers outside normal class hours and travel abroad.
In the most recent U.S. News & World Report survey, Washington State University
(WSU) was recognized as the 7th best online graduate business program. This is especially

TEAM 3

noteworthy considering that more than 200 programs were evaluated. The U.S. News & World
Report bases their rankings on four categories that include faculty credentials and training,
student services and technology, student engagement, and admissions selectivity. WSU scored
particularly well in student engagement, which is an indication of a school's ability to retain
students and see them through graduation. WSU also ranked high for admissions selectivity,
which measures the strength of the school's admissions requirements.
New students don't have to wait for the fall or spring semesters to get started. If you have
a particular graduation date in mind, WSU's multiple start-date options make it easier to plan for
your end goal. The program can be completed in 22 months if you have an undergraduate degree
in business. If you're not a business-degree holder, the entire program -- including six foundation
courses -- will take a total of 29 months.

ASU-Online
Arizona State University's (ASU) program is a 23-month lockstep program. You are
assigned a cohort of peers with whom you begin and end the program. The cohort atmosphere is
particularly beneficial in an MBA program because the regular interaction enables you to form
close bonds with your classmates.
At ASU, you take a total of 13 six-week courses. The first five weeks are spent
completing a weekly module and the final week is reserved for a final examination or project.
There is a one-week break between each online course to prevent burnout and reboot. Another
major benefit of the lockstep program model is you will never encounter an unavailable course
since the subsequent required course is mandatory for the entire cohort.

TEAM 3

EWU
Eastern Washington University (EWU) has a great MBA program. This program runs on
quarters compared to other colleges that run on semesters. Students looking to get their MBA at
Eastern will take a total of 50 credits. This might seem like a lot but keep in mind that Eastern is
on quarters and their classes are worth 4 credits a piece. This will take a student 1 year to
complete if they go all 4 quarters and the last quarter taking an extra 2 credits.
Eastern also offers students a new campus. They have a new campus that is located in
Longview, WA and this is equip with computers that connect with the main campus and their
MBA students. This is another good idea that EWU has developed to increase their student base.
Another great benefit to EWU is that they are AACSB accredited. There are only 33% of schools
in the US that are AACSB accredited and 15% worldwide. This is a big accomplishment for any
student that attends this college, as it will help a great deal in their future.
SU
Seattle University is unique in the way that it offers three separate types of MBA programs. They
offer a Bridge, Professional as well as an Executive MBA degrees. These programs would take
anywhere from 12 to 20 months to complete. They would require the student to take either 48,
54, or 60 credits respectively to complete the entire program. While the Bridge and Executive
programs are offered in a lockstep format, the professional program offers electives as an option.
The cost of these programs vary depending on which option you choose. The Bridge program is
offered for $39,120 for the entire program while the Professional program is about $44,000 or
$815 per credit. The classes for the Bridge program are offered during the day for early career
students while the professional program is offered during the evenings and are flexible in nature.
The Executive Leadership program is the most unique as it is tailored to the student based on

TEAM 3

work experience and current schedules. It costs roughly $14,650 per quarter and would take
about 20 months to complete.

Recommendations
The brochure could be passed out to students on the Terrell Mall of Washington State
University- Pullman campus. This resource along with the website will accommodate any
student or person whether they are attending college or just looking to pursue their MBA goals.
By using our product, it is our goal that our audience will make a now well informed decision on
what school would work best for them. Instead of just "shooting from the hip" this will allow
potential graduate school students to have some research that has already been done. All that
needs to be done is just read and see the difference that is on the brochure or website. It works
well for the targeted audience by having more information about several MBA programs in one
resource rather than looking them all up separately. The best program offered from each school is
presented on the brochure which represents our overall recommendations.
