Oral Language
1.1 The student will continue to demonstrate growth
in the use of oral language. This activity will allow
students to be able to:
a) Listen and respond to a variety of electronic media and
other age-appropriate materials.
b) Tell and retell stories and events in logical order.
c) Participate in a variety of oral language activities, including
choral speaking and reciting short poems, rhymes, songs,
and stories with repeated patterns.
d) Participate in creative dramatics.
e) Express ideas orally in complete sentences.
1) The teacher will introduce the activity, which is creating a
comic strip.
2) The teacher will work with the students to pick a topic that
their comic strip will be about.
3) Once the topic is picked, the teacher will go to the website
to start creating the comic strip.
4) The teacher will work with the students to pick the pictures
and write the dialogues for the comic strip in complete
sentences.
5) Once the comic strip is complete, the teacher will choose
different students and/or have the whole class read the comic
they have created.
6) Once the students have finished reading the comic strip,
the teacher will call on different student and/or have the
whole class recap the story in logical order.
7) Once the students have become familiar with the website,
the students will work together in groups to create their own
comic, including pictures and complete sentences. Before the
students go online, they will first write out their story on
paper.
