Overview
Topic and Overarching Goal:
Music and movement. My goal is for them to be active by moving like different animals and for them to be
interested in making different sounds with different instruments

Preparing The Activity


Activity Description: What are you doing for your activity? Describe in very specific step-by-step detail, using
numbers or bullets. Write descriptions as if you will be giving instructions to a substitute teacher:
Equally spread out the movement cards on the tiles (tape them on the tile) around in a circle
Hop like a bunny
Waddle like a penguin
Stomp like an elephant
Bounce like a kangaroo
Leap like a frog
Wag your tail like a dog
Flap your wings like a bird
Stand tall like a giraffe
March like an ant
Twirl like a dolphin
Set out all the instruments in the middle of the circle (DIY egg shakers, hollow cans with fabric on top,
wooden/metal spoons, pots/pans)
Encourage the children to go to each movement card doing the previous action. For example: If youre at
Hop like a bunny you would have them hop to the next card.
When they get done with the movement cards, they can play with the instruments in the middle.
