Activity Description:
1. Gather the participants and place them in a circle.
2. Ask the participants to pick an appropriate song of choice.
3. Introduce the activity by explaining that it involves memory and each participant will do
a dance move. The first person will do a move, then the second must repeat the previous
persons move as well as perform their own.
4. This pattern will continue until the last participant has repeated all dance moves including
performing their own.
Leadership Considerations:
1. The facilitator of this activity will make sure everyone is at a far enough distance
away from one another just in case a dance move requires big movements.
Facilitators will also make note of how well each participant is able to memorize
throughout the activity. Safety considerations would involve spacing so no one is
bumped into during the activity as well as making sure a dance motion is not too
extensive where one could hurt themselves.
2. An adaptation for someone who has dementia would be to have them write down a
clue to each dance move that someone does, so if they have a hard time remembering,
they can refer to the card to spark a memory. An adaptation for someone who has
Down syndrome would be to have them choose the song so that they are able to focus
more on the activity taking place due to the fact that they are more interested in it.
