History Club Report for the Budget Proposal On Latin American Heritage Month The History Club went to Ay! Jalisco in Gaithersburg on November 7", 2015. The club ‘members met at the Germantown Campus at 2:00 pm in front of the flag poles. Six members were counted for and we used two cars for the carpool. When we arrived to the restaurant, we were greeted in Spanish and presented to our table. When we were all seated, we did an ice- breaker, where we introduced ourselves and our involvement at MC. The restaurant was displayed in the authentic Latin style unlike some fast food restaurants that sell Latino food and we felt like we were in a Latin American country. ‘When we were finished with our orders, we discussed a brief history on Latin America, presented and play jeopardy in which two of our members gained about 70 points. I also passed around handmade items from Latin American cultures and explained about their significance in the historical context. In addition, I brought in my history books and presented pictures and information to elaborate more on the history of Latin America, Moreover, we discussed about the EI Salvadoran communities and addressed some of their problems. We also debated current events in the Latin American communities and other issues concerning minority groups such as African Americans, and the Asian immigrant communities. Finally, we ended the meeting with a one positive thing each member learned from the discussion that was presented to them. Overall, everyone enjoyed the food and the experience. They were able to get an educational purpose and yet be able to enjoy the great atmosphere there.
