Oscar and the Hollywood Movie Controversy 2016

What You Need to Know:

The controversy has been observed in the past but became news this year
after it was observed that all 20 actors who were nominated for the Oscar
in both lead and supporting roles were: white. Although not uncommon in
the history of the Oscar this is the second consecutive year that this has
occurred. An additional point that was made was that there were three
films that had successful POC in them, but they were not nominated.
This year was the 88th anniversary of the Oscar Awards In that time only
14 Black actors, five Latino actors, three Asians and one First Nations
actor won this prestigious and much sought after award.
