Grade: Freshman
Project: Poem Drawing- Ghost

For Showcase I used the Create Da Vinci pillar by creating a poem with drawings titled
Ghost. I used the creativity skill Keep Open because I drew my poem instead of just presenting
my poem by itself. I also used the Highlight the Essence creativity skill by highlighting my
poem through symbolic and literal pictures.
Ghost connects to my English class because we studied The Poisonwood Bible, and I
created the poem using quotes from The Poisonwood Bible. Some skills I used from my English
class in this piece are symbolism and dark imagery. This piece is an example of Creative
Thinking because I used some creativity skills and originality to create my piece.
My found poem helped me discover my piece. The Poisonwood Bible inspired my piece.
I discovered the inspiration by thinking about my found poem because it is my best piece of
work. I wanted to combine something that I did in school and work of my own. I discovered
that representing words through symbolic drawings is very fun, creative, and original.
While reflecting over my piece, I noticed that some of my strengths are combining
different ways of self-expressiveness and using descriptive imagery. I chose this piece for
Showcase because I am very proud of it and I made a part of it in class. An area I could improve
on would be having the same amount of effort throughout my entire piece. I will apply the
Showcase learning experience to all of my work because I think it is important to create unique
things that represent you.
