Sonnet Assignments for Shakespeare

Shakespeares sonnets are a unique work in the English language. Most of us dont
stop to think about the extraordinary effort of writing any poemlet alone 154
poems about love of various kinds, the fleeting nature of time and the ravages of
nature. If nothing else, Shakespeare was interested in the most basic things of life
and how they serve to sustain and grow us.
Your project is to use some form of media expressionart, film, music,
presentation, poetry, etc. and to use it to explicate and, in a way, celebrate
Shakespeares sonnets. What you do is up to you. Please include the following:
The use of one of the sonnets, whether whole or in-part, visual, audible, etc.
Explication of the poem including: Paraphrase, Connotations (focus on imagery and
the sonnets structure-does it deviate, etc.) and attitude.
Visual, audio, musical, artistic, discussion or some other medium that seeks to delve
into the sonnet and share its importance with your audience.
You may work with a partner, a group or individually.
The project is due on or before May 17 (Tuesday).
