Farewell, Big Papi.

As the Boston Red Sox prepare for opening day, many
members of the organization are preparing themselves for
their final season with their designated hitter, David Ortiz who
announced he will retire after this season.

Ortiz began his career with the Minnesota Twins in

September of 1997. He spent five years there before his
contract was up and the was signed out of free agency by the
Red Sox in 2003.

ON DAIGNEAULT/CU

After signing with the team that would carry him for the
rest of his career, his performance went through the roof.
Ortiz hit a career .289 with 2,303 hits; 503 home runs;
and 1,641 rbis. Perhaps no home run he has ever hit was
bigger than his walk-off homer to win game 4 of the 2004
American League Championship Series. Lets take a look at
the historic home run...

Those home runs and many more will be greatly missed

by the Red Sox organization and of course by the fans.
