The Water Cycle

By Alexis Kelley

Who this is for and what it is about:

Science; The Water Cycle
3rd grade- 5th grade
The purpose of this instructional PowerPoint is to
present the water cycle to inform the students of
how the water flow within our universe works.
The learning objective is for them to understand the
parts of the water cycle and how they work together
to form the cycle.
AAAS Benchmarks for Science Literacy; AAAS
Science for all Americans are two standards in which
are met through this power point and learning of the
water cycle.

The Water Cycle

It is defined as the processes by
which water circulates between
the earth's oceans, atmosphere,
and land, involving precipitation
as rain and snow, drainage in
streams and rivers, and return to
the atmosphere by evaporation
and transpiration.
It has five parts.

The Water Cycle:

12345-

Transpiration
Evaporation
Condensation
Precipitation
Accumulation

Transpiration
Transpiration is a process by
which moisture is carried
through plants from roots to
small pores on the underside of
leaves, where it changes to
vapor and is released to the
atmosphere.

Evaporation
Evaporation is Evaporationis
the process by whichwater
changes from a liquid to a gas or
vapor.

Condensation
Condensation is water vapor
in the air is changed into
liquid water.

Precipitation
Precipitation is water released from clouds in the
form of rain, freezing rain, sleet, snow, or hail.

Accumulation
Accumulation is the process of water
collecting in rivers, lakes, streams, oceans
and other bodies of water.

In Summary:
The children have learned the correct
order of the water cycle and what
takes place within them.
They have learned how they all work
