Set Induction: Raise your hand if you know what yoga

is. Have you ever done yoga before? Yoga is an
exercise in which we move, bend, and stretch our
bodies.

Seconds

Transition: For this activity, we will practice spelling in 4

groups. NUMBER OFF 1-4.

on.

Presentation of New Material/Directions:

o I chose some of our spelling words that I felt were
most difficult. There is one word posted in each of
your corners.
o Work together and use your bodies to create the
letters that spell the word. Talk to your teammates
to figure out how you need to move or bend your
bodies (yoga poses) to spell the word. When you
finish the word, signal to me and I will come look.
When every one is finished, we will rotate to the
next corner.
o When we finish the activity, I will ask you to name
and spell aloud two words that you spelled with
your bodies.

5
Minutes

Activity: Students will be in 4 groups, with one group

beginning in each corner. Students will be working as
teams to form letters with their bodies to spell the word
that is given to them. As each group finishes spelling
their word (roughly 1 minute each), I will say FREEZE
and then ROTATE LEFT to move groups to the next
corner.
