Professional Growth Plan
Goals for the first year of teaching:

Develop a style of teaching: In my internships I had only a few opportunities to develop my own
style of teaching. The best opportunity to develop my own style of teaching is during my first

year of teaching.
Make acquaintances in my department: Exceptional communication skills are needed for
successful teachers not just with students but with other teachers. It is important to make
colleagues in your department as a teacher because those teachers can help you develop lesson
plans and give you advance on teaching. When I need help I would want the veteran teachers in
my department to assist me and give me some tips and tricks of teaching.

Long-term Goals (Five-Year Plan):

Receive my Masters degree: I want to further my education and have more options available to

me.
Develop a better understanding of the state standards and the curriculum: It is important to

have a clear understanding of what I have to teach my students.

Get involved with professional organizations and the school community: It is important to get
involved with professional organizations that will help you develop more as a teacher and assist
you when you are in need.

List of professional organizations:

Arizona Council for History Education (ACHE)

Arizona Geographic Alliance (AGA)
Arizona Council for Social Studies (ACSS)
