Structure of the IPS Entrance Exam
The IPS exam will have two parts. They are the Preliminary Examination and the Main Examination.
The preliminary will comprise of two papers:
The general studies paper This paper will carry 150 marks.
CSAT
Quantitative Aptitude
Verbal Ability
DI/DS
Reasoning Ability
General Awareness
Both these papers will be of the objective category. Students can write the exam in Hindi or English. The
syllabus will be of the graduate level.
The Main Examination will comprise of the following papers.
Paper VI-IX - Any two optional subjects Each paper will carry 300 marks
Other than this they can refer to the books for other similar entrance exams.
Study plan for the IPS Entrance Exam
The IPS exam can get very tough if the candidate is not prepared. The candidate will need to be familiar
with the current news and other happenings of the Indian economy. Besides this, they will also need to
study on a variety of other topics. As to get ready for their exams, candidates can read guide books,
newspapers, journals and even watch television for important news reports. Reading English newspapers will
help the students to get a good hold on the English language.
Candidates who clear the exam will be then subjected to physical and medical tests. After this, they will be
needed to be present for a personal interview.
