Inquiry Project Proposal
The inquiry project topic that I would like to do this semester is the question of whether
or not objective testing within schools truly show an individuals intelligence. This relates to
what we have been talking about in class because someones level of intelligence can affect the
way that other people view that individual. My main inquiry questions will be how successful
did individuals with high test scores and IQ scores become, how many people that were deemed
unintelligent by objective testing end up being very successful, and why do people need to
score highly on these objective tests in order to live easier and be accepted easier into nicer
universities and acquire higher paying jobs. I plan to approach this topic and conduct my
research by looking for the most successful people in the world that had very little education or
scored very poorly on objective testing during school. I also will look to see how these same
individuals scored on the IQ test as well. I also will look up the average minimum amount of
education needed in order to earn a yearly wage that is above the poverty line. Then I also plan to
look up the minimum average GPA and test scores needed to get into a college. Some difficulties
or roadblocks I may face while conducting my research is a lack of availability of data regarding
test scores of individuals. Another is that there may not be an average minimum listed for
colleges within America. On top of that, many places do not release their test scores of
individuals to the public. My personal experiences and opinions and experiences of my parents
may also be an interference in my research and writing of this paper.
