Physics 1040 was the first physics class Ive ever taken as well as the first science class
Ive taken in college. I think it went better than I expected. The first couple of classes lined up
almost perfectly with my Anthropology 1040 class (Human Origins.) During about the first two
weeks, both classes went over the scientific method and also the preconceived notions people
had of time and space, and of human origins before our modern understandings were brought
forth. It was interesting that the classes mirrored each other in that aspect because the subject
matter is so different yet the process of our learning and understanding was so similar. I do not
think the Signature Assignment really changed my perspective of the world or challenge any of
my beliefs. This is probably because my family is all fairly liked minded so there was not a lot of
disagreement. Before this class, I would not have been able to explain how astronomers
determine the chemical makeup of a star or how a solar system is created. The ability to elucidate
the complex processes and properties we learned about in this class portrays a growth of
knowledge on my part.
