To whom it may concern,

It is my distinct pleasure to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Alexis Garza . I have
known Alexis for two years. In February of 2014 she joined my math class at Garza High School to
complete the 2nd semester of Algebra II. When you talk to Alexis today she exudes cheer and
intelligence, friendliness and a gentle kindness . These traits of Alexis are a testament to her strength
and perseverance because two years ago Alexis faced troubled times. When she first entered my class,
depression darkened Alexis's hopes, her dreams, her thoughts and responsibilities, and it overshadowed
her better self. Alexis did not succumb to this sadness, however. She did not give up. Instead Alex js
doggedly continued to come to school, opened herself to receiving help and support from others, and
tapped into an inner strength that helped transform her into the magni.f,icent individual she is today.
Along the way Alexis earned an award as one of my Students of the Year. She was and remains
an example of a true champion - one who faces obstacles that at first seem impossibly high, only to
overcome them through sheer force of effort and determination. In her own words, Alexis writes, "I
always try my best no matter how difficult the task." Alexis's other strengths include her calm and
deliberate demeanor, her desire for accuracy in her work, and her ability to apply lessons learned in new
contexts. I wholeheartedly recommend Alexis Garza for any academic or work endeavor she chooses to
pursue.

Sincerely,

Mansoor Kapasi
