schools. Newsweek Magazine. Retrieved from: http://www.newsweek.com/charlottes-shamereturn-racially-segregated-schools-368826
Annotation: This news article emphasizes on the importance of public support to end the
unequal outcomes for students in schools. Many of CMS schools today have students from lowincome families and half of the schools are isolated by race - hypersegregation. Busing is
difficult and unpopular for it burdened the students from poorer neighborhoods who endured the
longest bus rides.

Annotation: Students do not have to be driven for hours to get to school when they could be
spending that time in a classroom, learning. Most of the students who have to go through those
busing systems are those who suffer from poverty and hunger, and children who suffer from
these issues dont get to perform as well as others in school who get dropped off by their parents.

Annotation: School busing is a national concern and racially segregated schools are still
lingered. White public school enrollment declines and more percentages of states white students
were in private schools. Whites appear more willing to integrate with blacks in schools located in
white neighborhoods than to be bused to schools located in black residential areas.
