Installation Addendum

If your system requires a hardware key, one has been included in your software package. The
hardware key is a 25-pin connector. If the hardware key is included in your package but not
installed, the software will not run on your computer. You can install the hardware key before
or after installing the software.
If you have a hardware key, install it before trying to run the program.

Installing the Hardware Key

The hardware key should be attached to a parallel printer port. (See your computer manual for
information on ports.) If there are several devices or hardware keys to be attached to the same
port (cascaded), the hardware key should be first in line, attached to the port of the computer.
This hardware key may not work correctly if other devices or hardware keys are between it and
the computer. The hardware key will not interfere with a printer or other devices attached to the
same port.
To install the hardware key, attach it to any parallel printer port of an IBM-compatible
computer.
If the computer is close to a wall or other obstacle, you can attach an extension cable to the
port, and then attach the hardware key to the cable. Use a straight-through DB-25 male-to-DB25 female cable. Be sure that all 25 pins are connected.

Running the Software

If you have a hardware key, it must be attached to the computer while you are running the
software. If you try to run the program without the hardware key attached, you will receive an
error message such as:
Invalid License Error - Missing or Incorrect Hardware Key
(Subcode 0).
If you receive such a message, install the hardware key and start your program again.
