Thank you for taking the time to consider my request to teach in your school district. It is with
great interest that I am applying for this position. I am currently a senior at Dakota State
University and will graduate in May of 2016 with Bachelor of Science degrees in Elementary
Education and Special Education, as well as, a K-12 reading minor and a K-12 educational
technology minor.
In May, I will complete my student teaching experience at Sanborn Central School District in
Forestburg, South Dakota. I have had the opportunity to work in a PreK-12 Special Education
classroom and a third grade classroom. It has been an amazing experience to work with and
watch the children grow and learn as each day passes. I have enjoyed the opportunity to create
lessons, work with the students, and work alongside my cooperating teachers throughout my
time being here.
With my various field experiences and coursework through Dakota State University, I believe
that I have been thoroughly prepared to adjust to the needs of my students and to use a variety of
instructional strategies within the classroom for this position. As a future teacher, I know that it
will be my job and responsibility to provide each and every student with the best possible
education they can receive. Through motivation, differentiation, challenging classroom activities,
and collaboration, I plan to create an environment that the students will be excited to learn in and
give them that great education they deserve.
Receiving my first teaching job will allow me to take that first big step to continue to grow and
