Dear DHS Recruitment:
I am a fourth year student at University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) majoring in Criminal Justice and
minoring in Legal Studies interested in the Family Service position. I found the Family Service Worker position
on the Arkansas State Jobs website and I took interest in the job description. I have the knowledge on the laws
regarding the safety of children as while as the knowledge of principles and methods of investigating. I am
expected to graduate with my Bachelors of Arts in Criminal Justice on December 2016. I plan on taking up
more internships before then.
I am currently interning with UALRs Public Safety Department as an Accreditation Intern. I am responsible for
creating and maintaining files for compliance with the accreditation process. I coordinate agency personnel,
activities, records and systems with regards to maintaining accreditation standards, including the establishment
of proper documentation demonstrating accreditation compliance. I maintain and update directives, and updates
files to correspond with periodic changes to accreditation standards and ensure all aspects of the accreditation
maintenance process are completed, including time sensitive standards, periodic inspection reports, reviews and
updates.
My studies have covered federal, state laws, juveniles, the correction system, and many more related topics. I
also took the time to advance my computer skills in a few areas like Microsoft Office and file management. I
am very familiar with Microsoft Office and I know the bar bones of Visual Basic. I have learned how to create
policies the University as well as the University Police force uses with my research skills.
