willthenbrainstormwhattheythinkthemost
influentialinventionsareusingaGoogleform.

2classperiods Studentswilllearnaboutfamousinventionsandhow
theyhavechangedovertime.Theywillthencreatea
newinvention.Studentswillalsoconductinterviews
abouthowacertaininvention(computers,cell
phones,weatherapps,modernfarmequipment,etc.)
hasaffectedsomeoneslife.

Lesson3
Inventors

2classperiods Studentswillcreateatimelineofinventionsand
inventors.Theywillbeprovidedwithavarietyof
researchmaterials:websites,books,library
databases,etc.Studentswillworkingroupsoffourto
completetheresearchandmakethetimeline.This
typeofteamresearchshouldhelpstudentsnarrow
downaninventortoresearchfurtherduringtheunits
summativeassessment.

Studentswillunderstandwhattheresearchcycleis
andhowtouseittofindinformation,allowingthemto
taketheinformationlearnedinthislessonandapplyit
totheirinventionresearchandsubsequentproject.

InventorsPresentations

waystopresenttheirknowledgeabout
(SummativeAssessment)
inventors/inventions.Someoftheitemsincludedon
theChoiceBoardareaneBook,aGlogster,aPrezi,
andatrifold.Theirprojectswillbeusedastheir
summativeassessment.
