MIDI Recording on Logic Pro X

Hi. Im Glce zen Grkan, from stanbul, Turkey. This lesson is for week 3 of Introduction
to Music Production, at coursera.org. I will be teaching how to make a MIDI recording
with a software instrument on Logic Pro X.
When you open a new file on Logic Pro X, it suggests you to choose a track type. What
you need to choose is Software Instrument as you can see here:

When you choose it, Logic assigns a temporary instrument for you:

You can go on with this instrument or choose another one from the menu on the left. Ill
go with the assigned one. I you dont have something to give you the rhythm or the
tempo, you need the tempo click on the upper middle left (I red circled it for you):

As you see, count in and click are both purple, which means, they are on. You need
count in, the button with 1234 symbol to get a tempo head start. If you dont open it,
youll possibly start with a latency.
Now youre ready to record. Make sure that the R button on your track is red (chosen),
push the record button on the upper middle right, wait for the head starter clicks and start
to play.

During your performance and when you finish, youll see your MIDI region; it appears like
this:

When you double click your region, your piano roll will appear:

Now you have an event roll to work on. You can use it smaller or bigger. I made it taller
and a little bit narrower to see all the region:

Now I can quantize it, using the buttons on the left:

I can work with the 1/16 Note but you can adjust it to whichever you need. Time to
choose some notes:
Now I have 4 notes to quantize now
(the chosen notes are brighter). Ill
dont want 100% strength of
quantize, so Ill make it 40%:

And here are my %40 quantized notes:

Now I can go with my MIDI

recording, I can apply velocity
changes, quantization and
everything.

Thanks for reading. I would love to know if I got everything right. Is there anything I
missed or could have explained better?
