There are several reasons to support my opinion that cigarette smoking has
harmful effects on human bodies. First of all, smoking could result in people
increasing their risk of getting lung cancer. According to the statistics that were
provided by American Lung Association website, an estimated 158,040 Americans
were expected to die from lung cancer in 2015. In addition, research showed that
among current smokers, chronic lung disease accounts for 73 percent of smokingrelated conditions. That means it is direct connection between smoking and lung
cancer. Therefore, most long-term smokers would suffer from lung cancer. Secondly,
Smoking could ultimately leads to addiction in many people. Medical research
started that nicotine, which is contained in cigarette, is a stimulant. Once people
absorb it for long time, they will crave more. They would become addictive to
cigarettes eventually. For instance, I knew a friend who has smoked e-cigarettes for a
couple of years. His initial motive to try that thing was curiosity. After that, he had
gradually obsessed with smoking. As he said that once I inhale the smoke of
cigarettes, it would be absorbed into my bloodstream and felt confident. As the
research illustrate, "When you stop smoking, the loss of nicotine changes the levels
of dopamine and noradrenaline. This can make you feel anxious, depressed and
irritable."Thus, smokers rely on them. That is the reason why people are difficult to
quit smoking by themselves. Consequently, cigarette sales should be prohibited and
restricted from government.
