To Whom It May Concern:
| am pleased to write this letter recommending Nathan Nugent for a teaching position. |
have had the pleasure of being Mr. Nugent's mentor and co-teacher this school year.
Nathan immediately impressed me as a dedicated, hard-working candidate and that is
exactly what he has turned out to be. | can always depend on him to be well-prepared.
for each lesson he teaches.
‘Our English department works in grade level groups. Nathan has proven to be a great
collaborator - easy to work with, generous with his ideas and thoughts, and willing to
work as part of a team. He is eager to learn, observes carefully, asks insightful
questions, and then incorporates the new information into his own teaching. Because of
this, he has grown immensely as a teacher this year - what a joy to watch!
In addition to planning and delivering lessons collaboratively, Nathan has also worked
closely with me to use assessments appropriately - both formative and summative. He
has a good working knowledge of Marzano’s standards-based grading and plenty of,
experience implementing it.
Nathan's dedication has served him well this year. He has risen to the challenge of
taking over as lead teacher of a class where many of the students had me as a teacher
last year and so already had a strong relationship with me. Despite being ‘the new guy,”
Mr. Nugent was able to step in and earn the students’ respect - no easy feat with a
group of 16 year olds! He is a valued member of our classroom community because he
has gone out of his way to connect with students - even attending a troublesome
student's professional music performance on the weekend.
Nathan Nugent is a fine teacher and | am delighted to recommend him. Please feel free
to contact me at 707-481-2804 or eraffo@sres k12.ca.us should you have any further
questions.
