How to Build a Dome Tent


A tent has many uses and is useful in many situations. It can be traced back to the earliest forms
or nomadism as it was essential for their shelter to be mobile since they practiced periodical
migration. Over the years the tent has revolutionized making adjustments to the basic survival
tent. It is important to know how to build a tent because it is a survival skill everyone should
know.
Time required for completion: 5-60 minutes depending on skill level.
Materials Needed:

Tent
Rain fly
Tent poles

Stakes
Tarp (optional)

Setting up the tent:


1. Lay down the tarp on flap ground.
a. Although this step is optional it is recommended to provide a moisture barrier
between the tent and the ground.

2. Lay out all the parts of tent on the tarp.


a. This will give the opportunity to inspect all the materials.

3. Connect the tent poles.


a. Most tent poles are either snapped or fixed very easily.

4. Insert the poles through the tent flaps.


a. This will be easier if you lay the tent out over the tarp to make sure the poles are
in the right location.
b. They should form an X pattern across the tent.

5. Raise the tent and make it start taking a dome shape.

6. Stake the tent through the ground

There should be small hoops at each corner where the stake will be placed. This is also a
recommended but optional step as wind can blow away a tent.

7. Connect the rain fly


a. Fit the rain fly at the top of the tent and Velcro it to the tent poles.

Now that the tent is built make sure to stay aware of personal belongings and
situational surroundings.
