Discussion Director: Develop a list of questions that your group might want to address
in this reading.
1. Enriques Aunt Mirian, catches Enrique sniffing glue, while he was in bed. The
family decided this was Enriques last chance to stay in the house. Do you think it
is the best idea to kick out a child that is in need of help? If so, how would you
help them?
2. Enrique got in a fight while on his journey to the United States and suffered an
aching mouth from broken teeth. He washed his mouth with urine, a home
remedy. What survival techniques or home remedies do you have?

Enrique was deported six times before he entered into the United States. The seventh
time he was badly battered, but met his mother in The United States of America. He was
under the radar for a few years and later turned in to immigration. Enriques journey
expresses determination. I have been attending college for 16 years and have
encountered many challenges on my journey to getting my bachelor degree, I too have
this determination.
