Adolf Hitler: Behind the Madness
My inquiry topic is the psychology of Adolf Hitler. In my research I intend to learn about
his childhood/young adult life contrasted with the information known about his mental and
physical health. The resource requirements for this inquiry will be met in various ways. My
primary source, a source from someone who directly experienced Hitler/the Holocaust will be
from a book titled Young Hitler I Knew by August Kubizek. This book tells about who Hitler was
before the Holocaust through his friends eyes. Another primary source will be directly from
Adolf Hitler himself, by using the book Mein Kampf. In his book he outlines what he intended
for people to know about him and his plans for Germany. It will be interesting to see his view on
what he thought he was doing vs. how he was perceived by others.
Other source requirements such as secondary and scholarly sources will be met as well.
Secondary sources will be books from the Atkins Library and scholarly sources will be found
through online databases. Much of my research and learning will come from a specific book
entitled Hitler: Diagnosis of a Destructive Prophet written by Fritz Redlich, M.D. In his book, he
covers many of the areas that I am intending to research about Hitler and provides a great deal of
detailed information.

Ward 2
My vehicle for this project will be a PowerPoint presentation. This will meet the
project goals and follows the suggestions provided in the Successful projects will: section of
our assignment. A PowerPoint will clearly broadcast the research I will have completed and
should grab the attention of my classmates as I present what I have learned. My final product
will be clear and concise, hopefully educating my classmates as well as myself.
Although I have found that my inquiry topic has shifted greatly from what I started with,
I feel much more comfortable and confident with what I have currently. I feel I am on the path
that I should be and feel confident that my inquiry has shifted in the correct direction.
