Meeting of representatives European countries

The situation
These last weeks were very hectic. We had a lot of unexpected surprises like people that cant come
because of injuries, family matters or because they had forgotten that they filled in a registration
form some months ago! Lets hope that everybody who is on the list now can and will come to
Amsterdam! Due to these cancellations, we have still some spots available. But. deadline for
registration is the 5th of May!

The best pickleballplayers of Europe, Asia and the USA

Were so proud that 140 pickleballplayers from 12 different countries will come to our tournament in
Amsterdam. This will be the most international pickleball tournament ever! We have people from:
Belgium

Czech Republic

England

Finland

France

India

Netherlands

Scotland

Spain

Ukraine

USA

Wales

It would be nice if one person of each country can bring their flag!
Were more than happy with 5 US Open medal winners coming to Amsterdam. Theyll tell us their
secrets! Our youngest participant is 16 years and the oldest is 84! And because its a skill level event,
they may play against each other. You can find a list of all participants at the end of this newsletter.

Raffle for the Dutch Pickleball Association

April 24th the foundation of the Dutch Pickleball Association took place. Were very proud that we
can work on the growth of pickleball on a national level now. We also became a member of the
international Federation of Pickleball. The next thing we need as association is equipment and
money. And thats why well organize a raffle. Starting Friday night you can buy lottery tickets. On
Saturday night the raffle draw will be and all the lottery winners will be
announced. You can help us in three ways:
1. bring gifts for the lottery
2. bring equipment for the Dutch Pickleball Association
3. buy lottery tickets

Brackets
We have 3 categories: womens doubles, mens doubles and mixed doubles. And well play at three
different levels: 4.0 and up, 3.5 and 2.0-3.0. So all couples with at least one 4.0 and up player, will
compete in the top group. Youll play in a Round Robin system and after that semi-finals, finals and a
losers round or another Round Robin (depending on the amount of people). We assure you that
youll play 5 games at least. The round robin games will be played 1 game till 15. The finals and
probably also semi-finals will be a full game (2 out of 3 games till 11)
Because most European pickleballplayers do not know their ranking, all couples with 3.5 and below
will start in one group. They will play some games in a round robin system and the results rank the
couples in the advanced or the starters pool. There youll play more Round Robin and after that for
the medals. Therell be a trophy for the 1st place and a silver and bronze medal for the 2nd and 3rd
place.
Well do our best to give you the best tournament experience possible. And although we arent
professionals, our goal is to take care of a smooth organization and give you all the opportunity to
play pickleball at your level, meet old friends, making new ones and have fun!

Walking tour along hidden courtyards

Amsterdam has a lot of hidden courtyards. These were originally built by churches, private
organizations or the city for widows or orphans as quiet urban oases within the busy and crowded
city. There are approximately 40 such courtyards throughout Amsterdam. These courtyards are
public, but are surrounded by private residences.
Jan, the partner of one of our pickleball players, is willing to guide us through an amazing secret
spots Tour along cortyards in the center of Old Amsterdam. This will happen Friday May 27, starting
at 1 pm and ending at 3pm.
You might have been to Amsterdam before and seen all the great things. But what if the
small things, every tourist walks past, are even more beautiful. The Hofjestocht makes it
possible to see the most beautiful secret places from Amsterdam.
Ten persons max so dont wait too long. Price: only 5,- We start at the Prinsengracht 203-P, close to
the Anne Frank House. If you feel like joining this amazing walking tour, please send an email to
pickleballamsterdam@gmail.com
