Reading Responses Reflection
The three reading responses that I found the most significant was What Every
American Should Know, Sexism and Misogyny: Who takes the Rap?, and The
Mobility Myth. These were my favorite because I could relate most to the topics in which
they were speaking. What Every American Should Know discussed the basic need to
know common core, white supremacy, and how diversity shaped America. Sexism and
Misogyny: Who takes the Rap? discussed why hip-hop was not the cause of sexism
and misogyny, but a reflection on what happens in society. The Mobility Myth talked
about the odds of getting out of the lower classes in the American society.
In writing the reading responses, I researched on how to write a great reflection. The
best website that I found was the University of Texas at El Pasos reading response
instructions. They were very simple and gave you questions that you should ask yourself
in the reading. The first question was What does the text have to do with you
personally? followed by How much does the text agree or clash with your views?,
How much were your views and opinions challenged?, How well did it address things

that you personally care about?, How well did you enjoy the text?, and finally What is
your overall reaction to the text? Making an outline and answering each question
helped me formulate and write a great reading response for each one. Because of this
outline, I made no less than a 92 on every reading response.
