Course Description
This course develops students knowledge of mathematics in the context of business
decision making.
The self-study nature of this course will help developing learner independence and, build
discipline and a habit for preparation that will make students better equipped to success at
a Masters degree level.
The course has a large practical element where students are encouraged to use their
mathematical skills: the aim is to provide students with the confidence as well as
competence to operate successfully in their future studies.
Specifically, the course aims are:
Deepen knowledge and ideas about mathematical techniques in business.
Build confidence in solving business problems numerically and algebraically.
Apply subject-specific language successfully in business disciplines.
Facilitate the transition from undergraduate to post-graduate learning environment.
Develop problem-solving capabilities to experiment and produce business findings.

Attendance
There are two webinars scheduled for this course aimed to provide further clarification
behind the logistics, grading criteria, forms of assessments, course delivery and system
functionality. Students are highly encouraged to join the webinars.
The online platform provides a discussion forum where students are encouraged to ask
clarification questions and get answers and advice from other participants in the course. By
actively participating in this forum, students will enhance further their understanding of the
topics and will improve indirectly their questioning and writing skills.

Any work submitted by a student in this course for academic credit must be the student's
