Portfolio Rational

This artifact required me to compile my signature assessments, evaluations, teaching

standards, philosophy of teaching, and resum into an electronic portfolio. In addition, I
reflected on each assessment to document my mastery of the Council for Exceptional Children
(CEC) standards, along with how my knowledge and skills positively affected/will affect current
and future students. This connects to CEC standard 6 (Professional Learning and Ethical
Practice).
I gained knowledge and skills in professional learning and ethical practice (standard 6) by
reflecting on my progress in becoming a highly-qualified, effective teacher. Completing each
signature assessment allowed me to enhance my understandings and insight in the ethics, lawful
procedures, and efficacious strategies related to education, especially early childhood special
education. Building an electronic portfolio that highlights my coursework, experience, and
abilities has given me a resource that is readily available.
Students will be positively affected from my completion of the portfolio; I have gained
mastery of the CEC standards which is reflected throughout the portfolio. I will use this artifact
as a reference guide when organizing my future lessons, behavior management, classroom
management, and methods of instruction.
