OBSERVATION TASKS
Remains calm and shows patience and understanding in the classroom.
Maddie is such a natural! Today was a day to Think with the Box and
she developed a polka dot wrapped box that her 2nd graders. Their job
was to toss the box in the air and where their finger landed that was
their word to look up 5 synonyms and create a spring flower with them!
Super fun!!
Uses classroom management procedures.
She had the kids get on the carpet and discussed with raised hands and
thumbs up for understanding of what a noun, adjective, synonym and
antonym was. Then she gave specific directions as to the order the
assignment should go.
Appropriately manages student behaviors.
Maddie is no nonsense when it comes to classroom management.
She told them if they were not respectful, didnt stay on task, didnt
follow directions, etc. she would NOT open the magic box she had on
Mrs. Spanglers desk. This really motivated them to be good!
Communicates clearly with appropriate age-level vocabulary and
volume.
Her volume is always clear and direct. Maddie has the best teacher
voice!! She challenges her students to always do the right thing. She
acts and sounds like a teacher and a leader!
Provides appropriate feedback to the students. Lots of feedback was
supplied to the students partly because they were participating in small
tables with their flower project. Both Mrs. Spangler and Ms. Maddie
were going to tables to help kids just like team teachers!!
Shows respect for the students and mentor teacher.
Lots of respect going on in all directions Maddie is very much seen as
another extension of a teacher. They want to please her too!
Demonstrates flexibility & responsiveness to the students.
Maddie is pretty good about explaining directions to students in
laymans terms so they understand completely. She is upbeat and
positive which is how she is in life!! She has really grown so much as a
2nd year student!
