We will be analyzing the crime log from January
2014, through October 2014.
Objective
The goals for this project is to analyze data
acquired by the MSU police department, in order
to understand:
Crime Rates
Trends in crime rates
Also to better understand the current numbers by
using charts and graphs in order to better rectify
future incidents by means of quality control.

Pareto
Notice just by looking at the Pareto chart we can
clearly see that 80% of the crimes on file, come
from almost exactly 20% of the items. The one
topic that stands above the rest as a real problem
is clearly seen as:
Fire Alarms
The other 80% of the items as reasonable, with
theft running a high second.
This is a good thing though, perhaps more
controllable than the other topics. Lets see if any
other trends exist.

Run Chart
We are now looking through our 80% to see if any
further issues exist. The first thing that is evident
is that the chart is nearly linear.
There is an obvious decrease in the summer
months, although in August, it seems to pick up
at the same rate as when school left out.
Lets test this Linear theory further.

Scatter Chart
With the linear line drawn, you could argue that
the logged reports of fire alarms, are linear, and
clearly increase as the year progresses.
