I wholeheartedly recommend Emma Scott for admission to your fine
university. As her private vocal teacher for the past three years, I have had the pleasure of watching Emma grow as a student, a young musician and a person. She possesses a natural talent for music and is also academically accomplished. In the past, I have had students who either excel at improvisation or who take a more methodical approach to musical performance. Emma is rare in that she possesses both abilities. She intuitively loves music, yes, but she is also has an insatiable curiosity about the "why" and "how" behind it. She is driven to learn and shows an impressive amount of follow through. This year, Emma stepped forward to organize and lead an afterschool holiday vocal ensemble. She is well respected by her peers and works well with others to create a positive, fun and educational environment. She has been a leader in my studio, performing two advanced level recitals with selections in Italian, French and German. She also represented my studio very well for two consecutive years as a competitor in the Solano Symphony Young Artist Competition. Working with Emma one on one is a great pleasure, as she takes direction and constructive criticism with grace and appreciation. I am so proud of the growth Ive seen in Emma, both as a performer as well as a young lady. Emma Scott is one of a handful of students about whom I have absolutely no reservations in terms of academic and personal success. I hold her in the highest regard, and am positive she will succeed in a university setting.
