Internal Board Policies - Board Members


Vacancies
Removal From Office
Any one of the elected or appointed officers of the Board of Education may be removed as an
officer (President, Vice-President, etc.) by a two-thirds vote of the membership of the Board.
A member of the Board of Education may also be removed due to absence resulting in a
vacancy.
Absence From Meetings
A vacancy in the membership of the Board of Education shall occur when a member is absent
either for a continuous period of sixty (60) days at one time, or for more than two (2) consecutive
regular board meetings, unless the absence is excused by a majority of the remaining members of
the Board of Education.
Vacancies
A.

Board of Education membership vacancies may be filled by the Board of Education


according to statute. A vacancy in the Board shall be filled by appointment of a qualified
registered voter by the remaining members of the Board for the remainder of the
unexpired term. All other vacancies shall be filled by the Board of Education.

B.

Failure of one elected to the Board of Education to qualify for the position as required by
law voids the election and creates a vacancy.
